FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (26/2/2004) Castle Cornet TourNew for 2004
Medieval myths, murders and manifestations, are just some of the fascinating stories local Accredited Guide, Annette Henry, will be telling, on her new walk entitled the “The Chronicles of Castle Cornet” starting in April. “The initial response to this new walk, has been fantastic,” said Mrs. Henry. “There are obviously a lot of locals who are fascinated with their local history, and this evening walk gives them the opportunity to visit the Castle at a time which fits in with their working lives” Dressed in costume, Mrs. Henry attempts to bring history to life through narrative and pictures. The scene is set after Guernsey separated from Normandy in 1204, and continues throughout the centuries, giving graphic descriptions of what life was like for those living within the walls of the imposing fortress. “History does not just revolve around religion and royalty. What I try to do is to introduce social history into all my walks, whether they are on Herm, or around St. Peter Port, which enables people to really understand and experience exactly what life was like for those living throughout the Medieval period” explained Mrs. Henry If you have always considered history to be duller than ditch water, it might be a good time to consider one of the informative, interactive and hugely entertaining guided walks on offer throughout the summer months.
