Herm Island

Extra Sailing

Herm Island is set to become even more accessible thanks to a new joint initiative between Travel Trident and Annette Henry Tours.

Starting in May, it will be possible to leave the hustle and bustle of the office, pick the kids up from school, or arrange a special outing, and enjoy some quality time on Herm without having to wait until the last boat home at 10.45pm.

Peter Wilcox, of Travel Trident explains, “In the past we have only been able to offer locals and visitors the chance to enjoy an evening on Herm, using the 7.15pm sailing from Guernsey and returning at 10.45pm.  For many visitors, locals or parents with young children, the return time was often considered too late, so we have come up with a new initiative to make Herm Island more accessible during the early evening”

The idea for this new venture came about after last summer’s launch of the hugely successful “Ship to Shore Sail and Supper Tour”, run by local accredited guide Annette Henry.

During the summer months the Trident boat is chartered for the Wednesday night “Ship to Shore” guided cruise.  The tour finishes at 8.30pm, when guests disembark on Herm for a meal, returning to Guernsey on the scheduled 10.45pm sailing.  The chartered boat then returns to Guernsey at 9.00pm.

“As the specially chartered boat returns to Guernsey after the Wednesday evening tour, we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to offer an afternoon sailing at 3.15pm, 4.15pm or 5.15pm, returning from Herm at 9pm” explained Peter

“It will offer a wide variety of organised groups, individuals or visitors the chance to enjoy a few hours on the beautiful island, bringing their own food or perhaps taking in an early meal, whilst returning at a reasonable time” he added.

So whether you bring a picnic or take in a snack, enjoy a late afternoon swim, or a leisurely walk around the cliffs; play organised games or arrange a treasure hunt, take a book, or admire the scenery, the choices are endless.

However, you may simply just want to watch the sun go down.
